How do I simply update my Gps Navigation map updates?

GPS Navigation device

Didn't really know how else i could call this topic, this should do i hope.

Back to question on hand - my dad bought a navigation (cheap one since in my country branded gps navigation devices cost way too much) and it is powered by Windows Embedded CE 6.0
At some point i decided to upgrade the navigation software/maps and was unable to as naviextras toolbox doesn't recognize my device at all, and to top it all it isn't even listed as a supported one.
Either way i managed to get new software/maps. The only question i wasn't able to resolve is how can configure windows embedded ce 6.0 ?

Basically if you just have the maps you can use it as a paper street map you buy in a shop but if you want step by step navigation you have to purchase it, but u dont need navigation if you want to plot routes etc and maps will still show your location
using GPS without navigation purchased

 

Maps and Navigation

Carrier-provided GPS service has its own map and is different from Bing Maps and cannot be used together unless your carrier uses or supports Bing Maps. So you have to contact your carrier to support Bing Maps which they are free to do as MS provides tools
and support for developers to do that. However carrier-provided navigation usually are note very reliable because they are not true GPS solutions and require wireless signal to provide the service. If you drive into an area where your carrier has no signal
you will not get any directions and will simply be lost.

The advantage of Bing Maps navigation is that it uses the integrated hardware GPS antenna in your device and simply connects to satellites to direct you even if you do not have wireless signal from your carrier. So you do not need any carrier's signal to
get navigation. MS just needs to deliver voice-enabled turn-by-turn navigation in Bing on WP7 soon because most people need it and have been using it since WInMo. I hear MS is prepping this as an update for January.
