    How do i sort pictures inside a folder to MY OWN, custom order in Windows Explorer?


    I'd just do it by Drag and Drop thing but it's not present in W10 for some reason. Also nothing in *right click* Sort By > More suits my likings, any help? Is it even somehow possible without any sort of program?

    Windows 10 File Explorer Folder Sort Order

    Why does File Explorer not remember sort preferences when I go into a key folder or library (like "Pictures" for example")?

    After a boot I go into Pictures I sort it in "date modified". Next boot I go back in to "Pictures" in file explorer and its back in File/Folder name order. There is not one single person on earth that wants a large folder with lots of sub-folders sorted
    in filename / folder name order. And those that do are wrong. I don't need to point out this was sorted (pun intended) in Windows XP SP3. 4 OS's and 14 years later.....

    Can I customize folder sorting order by desktop.ini?

    I was writing a batch for setting icons for folders. Then I suddenly have the idea of also customizing the sorting order by desktop.ini. Is it possible for doing this? If yes, what code do I need to put inside the desktop.ini to keep the file sorted in
    that order?

    Sorting with File Explorer.

    I tried the method that was complicated (3rd option) but fell over in second step as I could not find any "apply to folder button"'.

    However, the simple put *.* in search bar, then sort results windows by date does the trick. It is slightly cumbersome as I have to do that each time I am selecting files (to upload to sharepoint) but a lot less hassle than I was having to scroll up and down between sorted file block and sorted folder block.
