Windows 10: How do I sort videos within Microsoft Photos Windows 10/11 by date taken?

I uploaded several hundred photos last year and a few videos to Microsoft Photos. Recently I noticed that the videos were all sorted to the date I uploaded them, however, the photos were all in order of date taken. I made sure to sort the photos by date taken and checked the metadata and the 'media created' date for the video files were correct, Microsoft Photos also showed the correct date when I opened the video information. Is there any way to sort these videos by the date created rather than by date uploaded?

Windows 11 Photos App will not sort by Date Taken.

I purchased PC with Windows 11 April 2022. When photos transferred from W10 they were organized by Date Taken which is what I have preferred for many years. When the automatic upgrade occured in Oct 2022 ALL of my photos are unorganized. Even if I click on option to sort by Date Taken they continue to be unorganized. I have checked that Date Taken is correct on most of the photos themselves. Under Dec-Jan 2022 uploads even my most recent uploaded photos are out of order and mixed in with those from 2015, 2017, 2020 etc. I use ICloud. On the nav bar on the left I have options of All Photos which number 18,481 and ICloud Photos which number 7987 photos which is pretty close to the correct number transferred from W10 and on my iphone. All photos include many many dups. Dates are out of order on each of these options. Again, Date Taken is mostly accurate on all original photos. I tried Photos Legacy but photos uploaded in same wrong order using Date Taken Can I delete all photos from W11 and reload from W10 photos (I have that PC) or from my iphone? Any other suggestions please. Thank you.

 

Sorting photos by date in Windows 11

PLease can you explain how to sort photos by date taken when importing from an iPhone into WIndows 11? THis used to be very easy in Windows 10 but WIndows 11 doesnt seem to sort them by date. Thank you

I understand that your Windows 11 computer is the Photos app is unable to sort photos by Date taken.



I tested this issue and it did not reproduce.



What is your current version of Photos? Click the button on the Photos page and select "About Photos" to see the version number.





In addition, can you tell me the way to transfer photos from Windows 10 to Windows 11?



You are able to delete photos on Windows 11 if you have backed up those photos on both Windows 10 and IPhone, otherwise please make sure to back up those photos before you do the delete operation, then try to reload.

You can try loading photos on Windows 10 first and then see if they are sorted correctly by the time they were taken, or load photos from your iPhone first.
