How do I start Windows 10 in Tablet view on a laptop?

I need to change the settings of a computer so that Windows 10 starts in Tablet Mode for every single user to use the computer. I am already aware of how to change it in the user's profile. This would be not ideal for me because we have a large number of users and they move computers a lot. Has anyone successfully done this?

The laptop is not a surface, but is touch screen. Please don't waste your time advising me against doing this. It is going to happen. This will not be deployed to all users just a specific section who only need few applications and need to be able to easily access them to look at them while driving. (We are talking Public Safety. So it is not illegal.)

So does anyone have helpful info on how to do this?

    :)

Snap View in Windows 10 / Tablet Mode

How can split the screen when in tablet mode? (Snap View)

In Windows 8.1 I can just drag the window to the left or right... in Windows 10 seems like I can only do that in Desktop mode... I noticed that if you split the screen in desktop mode and then switch to tablet mode, the snap view works... but I just cannot
figure out how to do it in tablet mode.

    Thank you!

How do I view a photo CD on windows 10?

Hi Susan! I'm not an expert but have viewed photo cd's and dvd's on my laptop many times and it is so easy. There should be a tiny button somewhere on either your "tower" or on the side of your laptop that opens (like dvd players to watch movies) so you
can place the cd in, then close by a gentle quick push inward. Wait a few seconds and the computer should either begin showing the photos OR you will be given a prompt that asks you what kind of photo viewing application you want to use (for example, the prepackaged
"Windows Media Player" and possibly another app your system may provide). I started off simple and chose the Windows Media Player, which was easy to use and got the job done. (If you go to the App Store - if it's available on your device - there are many many
to choose from later when you become a Pro!). Anyway, once you choose how to "open" the disc, the pics should be there for you to scroll through and even to edit if you'd like. Save them to your files if you wish, or select the ones you want to save (I always
double-check to make sure I saved the correct ones), then exit the photo program and open the disc door to remove the disc. Although I have been known to leave dvds and cds in my laptop for months! Hope it wasn't too confusing and hope this helps!!

How do I start Windows 10 in Tablet view on a laptop?

Hello City User and welcome to Ten Forums.

Open the Start Menu and immediately start typing the word tablet. The Start Menu will change and show several settings for Tablet Mode. Hopefully one of these settings will help. I apologize if this isn't what you were looking for.

You will find that the users will refuse to use the systems, unless they are being used for Point of Sale.

The regular desktop is a lot safer and less risk of applications crashing.

This only changes it per profile. And this is kinda what I'm looking to avoid. Let's say I only have 40 users and 40 computers. I'd have to change this 1600 times. I have way more computers and users than that.

They don't have a choice. These are work computers for a certain set of users.

I don't think it'll be convenient to use tablet mode unless the computer that they will use have touch screen feature.

Take it from someone who has had to keep multiple windows open on two monitors. You cannot get anything done if your work wants you to work on a tablet vs. a Desktop interface.

You can create App Tiles for them to have in the Start Menu. But you will also have the headaches that no one can easily get work done when the tiles keep crashing or that they cannot quickly switch back and forth during a copy and paste, or having to have two sessions open at the same time.

Maybe with a POS. In a office environment you cannot use something like Tablet mode. Even when you take Civil Service exams that use a Web Browser or standardized program, the touch screens come in handy if you are just asking people to choose an answer after reading the topic or watching a video.

Your productivity would take such a dive in using a touch screen in trying to meet the demands of management. That you are looking at somewhere around a 65%.

I have been in situations that when imaging Microfilm, Microfiche, talking on the phone with clients for the agency I worked in for the State of Illinois, along with Data Entry that we would enter up to 1200 requests in a 8 hour day per person. The number of work hours estimated and what production ends up being when you look at the numbers each day or week. You can never survive as a business owner in trying to do what the OP is thinking.

I wonder even if they did a GPO and had the profiles pushed out to the workstations during the login script. What other problems would pop up if you cannot create apps from tiles, or tiles start crashing when they cannot communicate with the server that the backend side is not able to connect with the front end.

Has anyone looked into how many consecutive sessions that you can have with a dBase front end running as a tile and pulling information from a Sharepoint server and a SQL server. This is an area that not much talk about it is happening, since it is not fully tested waters and that 10 has some major growing pains that are going to take a very long time to iron out.

How do I start Windows 10 in Tablet view on a laptop?

These are users that only access very specific programs. And they will be driving while using the computers. They need to be able to quickly tap on the app that they need to use.

Sounds like you need to go into the registry and set the device to think its natural state is Tablet Mode. Not something I've tried, but you could start by looking here...

I tried this before posting here. *Sad It didn't do anything for newly created profiles after the setting was enabled.
