Windows 10: How do I stop Edge hijacking internet shortcuts even though it's not the default browser?

I just got a new laptop and I've done a fresh install of Windows 11 24H2. I've configured it the way I want, installed all updates, and installed the latest Firefox 138.0.4 which I made the default browser.BUT every time one of my apps kicks off an internet shortcut/link to its homepage, I get a popup suggesting Microsoft Edge as the browser to take me there - and NOT OFFERING ANY OTHER OPTION. You can clearly see in the screenshot below that the links are displayed with the Firefox logo, so the system knows that Firefox is the default browser - but Edge keeps trying to muscle its way in.H

I can't make internet Internet Explorer as a default browser in Windows 10 (only option is Microsoft Edge)
