Windows 10: How do I stop file explorer from auto scrolling to a clicked item in list view?

"This has been asked before but no answer and topic was closed.When selecting a file or folder from File Explorer the list automatically scrolls/jumps to bring clicked item into main viewing column.So for instance, I have 4 columns of files and double click a file in the 3rd column. The first click will select it and move the entire list over to "focus" on that selected folder/file column. So what happens is I try to double click the item and the first click moves the item over to "focus" and the second mouse click isn't over the top of the intended file/folder anymore.How can I set this to wh

I am Having this exact issue myself. The Only response or answer was to:

"On the File Explorer, select the three dots on the top menu > Options > View tab > Scroll down to navigation pane > Uncheck the option > " Expand to open folder"

This particular option has shown No difference in anything for me.

thanks for all suggestions have carried out most and found no difference so far. Will check out the clean boot tomorrow. John
