  1. How do I stop having to type password, pim, & hash before boot?

I'm on a Windows 10 that may have still been encrypted with Veracrypt when I downgraded back to Windows 10, & every time before boot, some text at the top left that is different from my past experience with Veracrypt asks me for a password, pim, & hash. I don't want this, & I've tried a lot of things, but Veracrypt doesn't detect anything & removing the Veracrypt bootloader with Bootice didn't work. What do I do now?

    :)

  2. Authorization failed. Wrong password, PIM or hash.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I meant to say that the OS will not boot. It says "Password:". Then I type it in. It then says "PIM (Leave empty for default):". Then after all that is says in yellow "Authorization failed. Wrong password, PIM or hash.". I think the only option is a fresh install. I think it might be GRUB messing everything up. *Sad

You can reset your password following the next steps:

    • Reboot your computer / Turn your computer on.
    • Hold down the Shift key at the start of the boot process to enable the GNU GRUB boot menu (if it does not show)
    • Press ESC at the GNU GRUB prompt.
    • Press e for edit.
    • Use the Arrow keys to highlight the line that begins with kernel and press the e key.
    • Go to the very end of the line and add rw init=/bin/bash
    • Press Enter and then press b to boot your system.
    • Your system will boot up to a passwordless root shell.
    • Type in passwd yourusername
    • Set your new password.
    • Restart your system.

    C# : Hash Encryption Example

Ooops ... one other thing that I forgot to mention was that if you use hash encryption to store passwords in a database, and the user forgets their password, there is no way to retrieve it. You will have to generate a new password (and hash) for that user.
