  2. Pop up - asking to sign into work or school account.

    Thank you for your help.

I did what you suggested but the work account is not linked to my personal Microsoft account - it is not listed as an account in the "Accounts" section of settings. Therefore I can't disconnect it because it isn't visible.

Is the pop up message from Microsoft or could it be fake?

  3. A sign-in pop-up shows up saying I have problems with work or school account

Yes, I've tried already to hit the "sign in" button and tried to sign in using my school account but I failed to do so as my school account got disabled I guess, however, I wanna stop this pop-up from showing any more. I don't need to sign in to my school account anymore and it still pops up every time I start my laptop even when Microsoft already sent a notification to the school admin for resetting my password.

  4. how do i stop school or work account sign in from popping up randomly

I keep getting a pop up stating that device is having problems with my work or school account, but I am signed in under my personal account. Why?

    Hello Andrea,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting to the community.

We fully understand the inconvenience the issue has caused and that the current situation can be frustrating. It sounds like you're encountering an issue with your device showing a pop-up related to a work or school account even though you're signed in with your personal account. There could be a few reasons for this:

    1. Cached Credentials: Sometimes, devices can cache credentials from previous sign-ins. If you have ever used a work or school account on that device before, the cached credentials might still be causing these pop-ups to appear.
    2. Shared Apps or Services: If you're using apps or services that are linked to both work/school and personal accounts, they might be causing the pop-up. For instance, if you're using Microsoft Office applications with both types of accounts, they might try to connect to your work/school account by default.
To resolve the issue, here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Clear Cached Credentials: Credential Manager lets you view and delete your saved credentials for signing in to websites, connected applications, and networks. Remove any credentials related to your work or school account.
      • To open Credential Manager, type credential manager in the search box on the taskbar and select Credential Manager Control panel.
      • Select Web Credentials or Windows Credentials to access the credentials you want to manage.
    2. Check App Settings: If you're using specific apps that might be causing the pop-up, check their settings to make sure they're not trying to connect to a work/school account. You might need to sign out of any work/school-related accounts within these apps.
    3. Check Settings: Start - Settings - Accounts - Email and Accounts - Accounts used by other apps, and then see if your work or school account is added to it.
    4. Check Browser Extensions: If the pop-up is appearing within a web browser, it's possible that a browser extension is causing the issue. Try disabling extensions one by one to identify the culprit.
We look forward to hearing back from you. If you haven't logged into your work or school account in any of the apps in your device then we will need to troubleshoot this issue further from other aspects .

    Sincerely
