    How do I stop the Microsoft Defender Antivirus Service from constantly using 140MB of RAM?


    I have tried a number of methods to disable the windows antivirus, including using Powershell and Regedit. Nothing has worked. I only have 8gb of RAM on my laptop and I'd rather it not be continuously occupied by Microsoft. I can't even force end the task.



    How do I get rid of it?

    Defender AntiVirus

    There are 4 options under Defender. Two refer to AntiVirus; AntiVirus Network Inspection Service & AntiVirus Services. Under Startup Type these two are listed as manual and the Status column said Inspection Service is running. When I clicked on the Start
    button in Properties, I got an immediate message: "Win.. Def.. Anti.. Serv.. on local comp.. started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

    I tried it but never worked as the “windows defender antivirus service” fails to be permanently disabled. It keeps running!
