Windows 10: How do I stop the taskbar from moving to my eternal monitor when I close my laptop lid?

I'm using Windows 11 on a brand new MSI Katana 17 b12v with an HDMI-attached second monitor, which is extending the layout upwards. Both are set to 1080p at 144Hz laptop screen and 60hz external monitor. I have already set my power settings to "Do nothing" when closing the laptop lid. Other settings consistent on both screens:What I WantI often close my laptop lid when I'm watching a video or movie on the secondary monitor, so that any light or movement on the laptop screen won't interfere with my enjoyment of my chosen media. Hello

Notebook with external monitor.
Active Desktop is on embedded monitor.
Close lid, desktop jumpes to external monitor. How to stop that bad behavior?

Power Options: When I close the lid: Do Nothing.
That's a blatant lie. It does something. I moves the desktop to the external monitor, which is not helpful.

 

Stop laptop display turning off when closing lid

Hi,

I have a laptop connected to an external display via HDMI.

I want to stop the laptop display turning off when closing the lid and everything moving to the secondary monitor.

If I had a single monitor it's easy enough to stop the display turning off when closing the lid through power settings.

However, with dual-monitors I cannot see a way to stop the laptop display turning off and just letting me close the lid.

Can anyone help please?

 

Close laptop lid - external monitor

Yep. The computer remained and I could use the external monitor. But all windows on the laptop screen moved over. Currently when the lid is closed, the windows remain on the laptop screen which is then "off"
