Windows 10: How do I stop Windows 10 Antivirus From Running Background Scans?

How do I stop Windows 10 Antivirus From Running Background Scans on My Computer? Windows is is supposed to run these scans when your away from your computer, but I don't want to run them at all, because:1. Real-Time Scanning is enough for my purposes.2. If a virus somehow slips past real-time scanning, real-time monitoring and the occasional manual scan ought to be enough to catch it.3. I keep a number of files Archived on my hard drive. I don't need Windows to wear down my drive by scanning the same drive sectors every day. A drive failure is as serious as a computer virus.

3d display stopping in background

When I have another window in the forground, the background ATI TOOL .24b stops rendering. I sometimes want to stress the card while I am doing other things. I am running 2 monitors and enableing it to render in the "background" would be fantastic!

Currently it only renders if I move another window around, as soon as I stop moving it, it stops rendering.

 

Apps only run as background pocesses

To manage background apps in Windows 10, you can follow these steps:

• Go to Start menu and select Settings.
• Click on Privacy on the Settings window.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select Background apps.
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an
  On/Off toggle.

I will move my question as you suggested.

It's always a compromise as to how much background one gives when asking a question. So I tried to keep it simple.

Actually I've spend a few weeks trying to fix this. I believe my probelm is uncommon. For example, it only affects my Windows Desktop PC but not my - or my wife's - WIN10 laptops.

I have tried many possible solutions, too many to list here, ranging from checking the Windows Update Troibleshooter through to an In-Place Windows 10 upgrade.

..oh and I cannot run an On Demand scan. WDA is not running. If I turn off my (main) antivirus software (Avast) then Start WDA via Control Panel -> Administartve Tools ->Services Settings - I see WDA starts for only 5 seconds then turns off again.
