Windows 10: how do I successfully verify my windows 11 account on the settings and add my new device...

I got a new acer windows 11 laptop and have been trying to complete the setup of basic features. When I go into settings > accounts > your info, it says I need to verify my account. When I click on the verify button, it always says when trying to load Microsoft directly from there "oops, something went wrong. sign in to account.live.com from a browser". So I did just that, and can't find any verify option. So then the next best thing is that I try to add this new device onto my Microsoft account I already have a previous older device which is connected, but even when I type in the corr

Hi Jose,

I followed your suggested steps but the same thing still happens when I complete the out of the box experience setup.

By the way, the only reason the device was even in the device list was because (as a troubleshooting step) I tried creating a local account and then connecting to my work account to verify that the windows install was working properly. So I'm not surprised I still got the same result

 

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Windows 11 Settings, Verify Identity issue with family accounts

Wow, windows support is driving me nuts. They claim I am signed into a work account, which I am not, so won't chat with me. I am setting up a new Surface Pro for my daughter is a member of my family account. It has Windows 11 Home. In settings there is an alert that says to verify identity. The SP is set up with HER Microsoft account. When I click on Verify Identity, it shows HER email address but then says it will send a link to MY email address to sync passwords and settings across all devices. I obviously do not want to sync my passwords to her devices. There seems be be no explanation of this feature and absolutely no help from Microsoft. Anyone know?
