Windows 10: How do I transfer all the contents of one external hard drive only data files here to...

I want to empty a 1TB external drive onto a new 2 TB external drive. I have another need for the 1 TB unit. There are no programs on the 1 TB drive, only data files. What's the simplest or fastest or easiest way to accomplish that task?

Thank you for your response with the current status of the issue.



It is not a long process as we are just copying and pasting the data from the external hard drive to the computer. Though transfer rate will defer depending on the file size and content. Video files will be transfer at much faster rate than transferring
a data files.

Note: If you want to cut the whole content from the external hard drive and then to paste it in the computer. Please press
Ctrl Key + X Key after selecting the whole content from the hard drive and press
Ctrl Key + V Key to paste it in the computer. When we cut and paste the data files. The transfer rate might be faster than copying the files into the computer.

When I press Ctrl Key + V Key to paste it in the computer - as per Step 6 above - this starts to copy all files back into the same external drive.

Have the above instructions - Steps 1 to 6 - been revised since April 2016 and, if so, what steps should I follow?

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.
