    How do I transfer my admin rights to my brother?


    When I first set up our computers, my brother was a minor and so I set up the computer with parental controls. Now he is 18, and it is becoming frustrating for both of us to have to maintain all the updates and approve every change he makes. How can I transfer my admin role on the computer over to him?

    admin rights keep disappearing!?!!

    Hi guys,

    I am actually having a problem at work that our IT department hasn't been able to figure out. I am supposed to be a member of the admin group. We are on a domain. The problem is that everytime I reboot the computer I loose my admin rights(no longer in the administrator group) and just become a normal user again. I have tried googling this and didn't get to many results.
    I believe IT is just giving me local admin rights, not admin rights for the whole domain.

    Any suggestions?

    EDIT: It is on Windows XP Pro.

    Windows 10 transfer admin rights (main account)?

    Hi Vrishank,

    The option to transfer the privileges and make another admin account the main account is unavailable.

    We suggest that you fix the issue on the main account by doing the following steps:

    Method 1: Boot your PC into Safe Mode

    Boot your computer into Safe Mode and see if the same issue will occur. If not, proceed with the steps in Method 2.

    Method 2: Run DISM with the RestoreHealth option

    Use the DISM command with the /RestoreHealth
    switch to scan the Windows image for any corruption and to perform a repair automatically. To run the command, do the following:

    • Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the
      Power User       menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
    • Type the following command, and press Enter: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Note: While running the DISM using the /RestoreHealth, you will notice the process will seem stuck at 20% or 40%, but it's normal behavior. After a few minutes, the operation will finish as expected.

    Provide us an update on the progress of your concern.
