Windows 10: How do I transfer the programs from the 2tb M.2 drive to a new computer or external drive...

I have a 2tb m.2 drive that has programs on it that was the c:\ drive on a laptop that bit the bullet. I never backed up these programs. Since, the old laptop doesn't work, I can't uninstall the programs on that computer. So, I need to move the programs from the M.2 drive to a new computer. How do I transfer the programs from the 2tb M.2 drive to a new computer or external drive so that they will work again on a new computer?

Transfer Bootable Windows 10 Partition to External Drive and then to Replacement Drive

I have a Windows 10 installation on an internal M.2 drive that I need to transfer to another M.2 drive that will replace the older M.2 drive.

But I don't want to purchase additional hardware to convert an M.2 drive into an external drive so that I can transfer directly between the M.2 drives.

Instead I do have an external USB drive with an empty partition that can fit the M.2 drive's contents onto it.

So I presume there must be a way to copy the M.2 drive's contents onto the USB drive such that I can boot the cloned Windows 10 parition from the USB drive, and then do the process again with the new M.2 drive installed to transfer the bootable Windows 10 install from the bootable USB drive to the new M.2 drive.

The new M.2 drive has nothing on it and will need to be formatted before it can be used.

 

Struggling to Install Windows to an M.2 Drive

I am currently trying to install windows on my MIL's new m.2 drive in her desktop PC.

When in UEFI mode the bios does not recognise the M.2 as a boot device. It will let me install windows to it, just not boot to it. As soon as the installation reaches the restart stage it reboots the PC back to the boot drive asking if I want to install windows again.

In CSM/Legacy mode the drive is recognised as a boot device but windows will not install to it, stating that the hardware isn't supported.

I am sure I am missing something simple, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

 

External drive freezes computer

All of a sudden, a 2Tb Seagate Back Up Plus Portable Drive temporarily slow down and even froze my Desktop computer. I can see the drive and his folders, but I cannot copy or transfer files. Also it can not be properly disconnect from the computer, and I
have to suspend the computer in order to unplug it properly.

I have several 1Tb external USB Hard disks and one 2Tb external USB Hard Disk. They connect and transfer data properly with my PC.

On the other hand, the "problematic" disk works properly on my notebook.

Both my desktop and laptop run Windows 10 version1903 and both have the latest updates.

I run several diagnostic program on the 2Tb disk and no errors were found.

Do you have any idea how can I solve this problem?
