Windows 10: How do I troubleshoot a USB "port reset failure"?

Hi,My work laptop has started to exhibit a very annoying issue:Most of the time , when I reconnect it to a USB-C dockstation occurs both at work and at home, with two different dockstation models: Dell WD15 at work, Dell WD19 at home, I get:The only way out is to reboot the machine, which is quite disruptive.How can I troubleshoot and fix this?Should I uninstall with the option to delete the driver and reinstall the root "IntelR USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 Microsoft" controller? And/or other drivers e.g. related to the PCI device tree? If so, I'd probably need an older

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
