  1. How do I turn the screen off in Windows 11 without putting the computer to sleep?

I recently bought a Lenovo laptop running Windows 11. On my old Windows 10 laptop, I used to press the power button to turn the screen off while I listened to music or podcasts. I can't do that anymore because when I press the power button, it puts the computer to sleep. Under "Choose what the power button does," the only options are "Nothing," "Sleep," "Hibernate," and "Shut down." I can't find any button or option on this computer that turns the screen off without putting the computer into sleep mode. I tried running the command C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -comm

  2. Windows 10 Upgrade 1903 64 bit Sleep Wakes Up on Multiple Computers

Someone suggested I look at all the drivers list before and after the upgrade. I did, nothing found/changed in drivers.

What I did discover was that after the KB4503327 upgrade, if I put the computer to sleep mode (via power menu,) I discovered the computer wakes up after the minutes set in the "turn off screen".
So, if the screen shutoff were five minutes and I put the computer to sleep, it would wake up after that amount of time, then turn the screens off after another time period of five minutes.

At this point, I have set the screen turn-off to "never" and any other sleep mode to "never".
Then, when I put the computer to sleep, it stays asleep.

This issue was never seen until this OS upgrade was installed in the system.

My next step is to upgrade the video adapter (something from 2007) to a new and different model adapter to see if that corrects this issue, or not. For now, my work-around is to set "never" in "sleep mode".

  3. Windows 11 is not sleep or turn off screen

    Dear Microsoft Support Community,

I'm reaching out because I'm encountering an issue with my Windows 11 operating system on My ROG Asus laptop. Specifically, I've noticed that despite configuring the sleep settings in Windows, My laptop does not enter sleep mode or turn off the screen after the designated period of inactivity(but rarely and randomly it does!).

Here are some details about my system:

    • Laptop Model: G513
    • Operating System: Windows 11(22635.3209 Beta Insider)

I've tried adjusting the sleep settings through the Control Panel and Power Options, ensuring that the settings are configured correctly to initiate sleep mode after a specified duration of inactivity. However, even after setting these parameters, My laptop remains active indefinitely without entering sleep mode or turning off the screen.

This issue is concerning as it affects the battery life and overall performance of my laptop. I've also checked for any pending updates or driver issues that might be causing this problem, but everything seems to be up to date.

Could you please provide guidance on how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue? I would greatly appreciate any assistance or suggestions.

  4. How do I turn the screen off in Windows 11 without putting the computer to sleep?

How do I put my computer to sleep?

    • Windows Version and Edition ?
    Tell me how.

    • When did the issue started ?

I took the computer out of the box and started using it last week. It has never had a sleep button or a way to make it go to sleep as far as I know.
And before we start looking at solutions, let's define terms.

My computer has the option to turn off the screen after 30 minutes or whatever time I choose.

It has the option to put the computer to sleep after 30 minutes or whatever time I choose. I have it set to "never" for two reasons.

When I am doing a virus scan it has to finish. Unless something has changed, what determines when the computer goes to sleep is inactivity, and while I suggested this, inactivity does not consider whether a virus scan is taking place. With my first computer there was a weekly virus scan. This did not interfere with what I was doing. With the computer I had to quit using last week because of a problem which apparently will require Windows to be reinstalled, something I am scared to try, the virus scan interfered with my use of the computer and had to be put off until I was not using it. A scan might be completed after 5 hours, the longest time I can give it unless I select "Never".

And let's define "sleep". With the old computer I quit using last week, that meant that when I resumed use of the computer, it only required me to touch a key on the keyboard or click the mouse, and everything I was doing the day before, including in-private browsing, continued just as if I had left the computer "on". If I turn the computer "off" or it mysteriously turns itself off as it has been doing (that's another topic on this site) I have to enter a PIN and when I click on Edge, I get a page with choices, but unlike when I unplugged the old computer when it would not do anything and would not turn off, I do not get a blue "Restore" button, which I want. Clicking on the blue restore button brings back everything I was doing except private browsing.

Let me define "everything I was doing". Let's say I just turned the computer on, clicked in Edge, and selected one of those choices. Let's also say I right-clicked on a link and selected "open in new window". Whatever is on the screen after I do those two things is "everything I was doing" if I turn it off right then.
