    Using keyboard to type symbols

    Can someone tell me how to type the symbol for the Russian Ruble using the keyboard on my laptop ?

    I had a list of symbols and icons that one could write years ago but I lost it and can't find it using Google.

    Numeric pad typing the wrong symbol

    1. makes no difference

    2. the numeric pad doesn't show on the on screen keyboard. it only happens on the numeric pad.

    not the main keyboard

    any other suggestions ?

    Alternative alpha/numerical symbols...

    I used to be able to get alternative alpha/numerical symbols (such as the N with the tilde above it) by pressing the F1 function key. There was a whole LOT of symbols (for writing in foreign languages, mathematical functions, etc) in a grid format. Aparently
    it doesn't exist anymore. How can I find these symbols in my computer now?
