    YES, IT IS WINDOWS 10. I HAVE A DELL XPS8930 WITH DELL SUPPORTASSIST PRE-INSTALLED.

    The Dell data vault is often classified as an unnecessary service which can be disabled.

    See the post marked Solution at
    https://www.dell.com/community/Windows-General/How-do-you-uninstall-the-Data-Vault/td-p/4775645     I would
    move or rename those files instead of deleting them. That would be reversible. Deleting them would not be.

    Here's additional explanation of the second part of that operation.

    After you get those files moved or renamed, open Task Manager by right-clicking the Taskbar. On the Services tab right-click any data vault services and Stop them. If you stop a service you shouldn't have stopped, this also is easily undone.

    How do I remove dell free fall data protection wmi service?

    I have a dell laptop. I think i know what it does, It protects the data on HDD when the laptop falls (I have SSD C and D)
