Windows 10: How do I uninstall McAfee software using only Command Prompt?

Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums.

I am currently having issues rebooting my PC after trying to install the McAfee Internet Security on my computer. The PC will not reboot and I still have files on my desktop which I need to recover before resetting my PC. This will be my 2nd time resetting the PC to factory default and I am trying to avoid going through the hassle of reinstalling all my programs again.

I figure if I could delete the McAfee program from my desktop, it should be able to help my PC reboot. However I only have access to the command prompt and I tried the method outlined in the Windows 7 forum post here: Programs - Uninstall using Command Prompt in Windows - Windows 7 Help Forums.

However it didnt work as I had the same error message as forum poster kasihra. This is the error message:
Node - MININT-BIRNS7C
ERROR=
Description = Invalid class

Is anyone able to help point me to the right direction to solve this and get my PC running again? Thanks all in advance !

Hi all, I need some help. I tried to install McAfee on my computer and it screwed my whole system up. I dont want to reset my PC as I have files on the desktop that I need to recover. I'm using a Windows 10 platform. Does anyone know how I can use the
command prompt to uninstall Mcafee? I will need step by step instructions. If you could help me that would be awesome ! If you need any more information let me know. Thanks in advance !

You said you cannot reboot.
If you go back and restart the computer, do you have the sign in screen ?
If yes, do NOT sign in.
At bottom right, there is a Power icon > click it will give you the Restart option. Yes ?
Press the Shift key and hold it > now click the Restart option > click Troubleshoot > click Advanced options > click System Restore .
Choose a date before you installed McAfee as your restore point.
If you can follow the steps this far, you should be doing the system restore.
Please post back the result.

Unfortunately I havent gotten to a point to set up the system restore on the PC....There was no image for the PC to restore it to, that is something I have to remember to do the next time. Are there any alternatives I can do to remove the McAfee program? I only have the command prompt to play around with at this point in time

 

You can't login to computer, you can't uninstall McAfee.

I understand using a Linux "live dvd" will help you retrieve and backup your personal files from Win 10, but I am not well versed enough to tell you how to.
I know how to install and create a Linux Live DVD etc. But since I barely know about Linux, I don't want to give you a "half-baked" instruction.

Don't know why the user would need to try Linux ?? When we have a better option made by one of our own right here.

Just put this on your USB stick, and boot it up. Has MANY programs that may help you, also incudes a image backup program.
Plus access to all your drives on your computer, which you could remove/delete that app, manually of course. Worth a look.
