Windows 10: How do I unpin Edge from the task bar permanently?

Each time I unpin Edge from the taskbar, it shows up again when I start my computer up the next day.

In fact, it shows 2 Edge icons now.

This is a brand new, high end PC. How do I unpin this Edge icon permanently? Thank you

(Yes, I know I can’t uninstall)

Are you able to launch Microsoft Edge by typing and clicking on it in the search bar?

You may also type Microsoft Edge in the search bar, right click on it and select pin to task bar.

Are you able to pin and unpin other programs from the task bar or is the issue specific to Edge?

You may try SFC scan for now:

Perform an SFC (System File Checker) scan on your system for any corrupted file settings.

• Press Windows + X on your keyboard.
• Select Command prompt admin.
• At the command prompt type “sfc /scannow” (no quotes), and then press ENTER.

Unable to put Edge on task bar

This issue has been going on for weeks. I have previously posted this question and have received many replies- none of which has worked. No matter how I try, I am unable to pin Edge to the task bar. I have tried from every place Edge appears- start menu,
apps list etc, When I right click any of those Edge places it goes directly to MSN Deutschland | News, Wetter, Sport & Hotmail Login ,my home page. I find it very inconvenient to be unable to open Edge from the taskbar. I have downloaded media creation tool and reinstalled Windows 10,
but nothing changed.

Please don't tell me to rightclick on Edge and select "pin to task bar". That does not work! It used to show pin to and unpin, and they didn't work, but those selections do not even appear now. Somebody must know how to fix this!!!

 

task bar icons blank

After applying the november windows 10 home update three of my task bar icons have become blank sheets. The ones changed are edge, store and wunderlist. The remainder are fine. The icons of the three appear correct in the all apps list. I have tried
unpin and re-pin with no change. The three applications work correctly and start fine from the task bar. It is just hard to remember which application is which blank. Note this has happened on my hp laptop which was upgraded from windows 8.1, My desktop
which has windows 10 professional does not have the problem. It was upgraded from windows 7 professional.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
