    How do I use a recovery drive on a Win 10 laptop ?


    Hello World...


    This morning my laptop wouldn’t boot past the BIOS screen.


    Eventually I discovered that there is only a windows upgrade directory on the c: drive ....


    There is no windows folder at all.

    Amazing ... it was all there last night.


    Why that might have happened is another question.


    The USB recovery drive will not reinstall windows 10 with the keep my apps option because it claims the drive is too small - only 1Tb free ...


    The USB recovery drive won’t perform an installation of windows overwriting everything because it says the drive is locked, and I cannot find a serting in the BIOS to unlock it. I have done that on a different laptop but can’t resolve it on this one.



    This laptop has a recovery drive D:


    My question is how do I use the command prompt, that the USB recovery drive advanced options gives me access to, to recover my laptop from the built in Recovery drive D, please ?

    Recovery Drive Doubt

    I created a recovery drive usb pendrive when i bought my laptop. That time it was Win 10 Home SL. Now i upgraded it to Win 10 Pro and activated it using "illegal software". So these are the doubts which i have :

    1. Can the Recovery Drive reverts Pro to Home? (Recovery Drive was created during Win 10 Home SL. So if i boot Recovery Drive it should revert back to Home. These are my thoughts)
    2. Will the digital license work after downgrading ?
    3. Will there be any backlash ?
    P.S. After upgrading it to Pro, there was a warning saying "digital license valid for Home SL, and not for Pro". I used an "illegal software" to activate it. Also i am a newbie so please explain it step by step.

    Win 10 recovery drive from laptop upgraded from Win 8.1

    Hi,

    I did a free upgrade of my laptop to Win 10 Home from Win 8.1 3 years ago and would like to replace its HDD with a SSD. To do this, I used the laptop to create a Recovery Drive on a USB stick so I can install Win 10 Home from the stick after installing
    the SSD.

    However, the Recovery Drive USB that was created installed Win 8.1 instead of Win 10 Home on the SSD. How can I create a Recovery Drive USB that installs Win 10 Home?

    Or are there other options to do a fresh install of Win 10 Home on the SSD that don't involve buying a new license of Win 10 Home?
