    How do I view pics from hard drive thats in a hard drive USB enclosure


    I have a hard drive off of a non-working laptop that had Windows 10 on it. I am just wanting to get some files off of the hard drive instead of repairing the laptop since it's fairly old. I have put the hard drive into a USB hard drive enclosure and plugged it into my Windows 10 laptop. The hard drive displays and I can select folders and stuff, but when I go to Users it has Default and Public. When I click on both neither have any documents, pictures, videos, etc in their corresponding folders. What am I doing wrong?

    The external hard drive was my original hard drive when i got this desktop. Mounted in an enclosure and connected to a USB port. The hard drive shows in this pc. So it came with Windows 10 Pro 64 from the factory. I created a Media Recovery on a flash
    drive using this hard drive.When I decided to go to a SSD I installed the hard drive and powered up the desktop and did a clean install using the Media Recovery that I made using the 1st hard drive. At no time were the 2 hard drives connected simultaneously
    until I got the enclosure and installed it in the enclosure and then hooked it up using the USB.

    Hello Gordon, I’m Virginia a volunteer on this site.

    You’ll require a USB enclosure for the hard drive, place said HD in the enclosure & connect to PC via the USB cable, then you can either reformat the hard drive or for a deeper clean use diskpart command.

    There’s enclosures for laptop (2.5”) & desktop (3.5”) hard drives.

    How do I view pics from hard drive thats in a hard drive USB enclosure

    Have you tried enabling "show hidden files" in Explorer view options? Also check to see if the drive is partitioned into more than one partition. THe user folders could be on a different partition than C:\.

    There should be a folder under Users\your user name.
