Windows 10: how do i wake up computer with mouse and keyboard after sleep

when my computer goes to sleep, i have to totally shut it down with the power button and restart. the mouse and keyboard wont wake the computer up. is there a way to correct this?

Keyboard and mouse cannot wake the computer after sleep

My new computer (windows 10) cannot wake from sleep by keyboard or mouse, despite that in device management the keyboard and mouse are allowed to wake the computer. The drivers are up-to-date. Only the power button wakes the pc after sleep. In Management
Engine Interface (power management) I have corrected the "wrong" setting that the computer is allowed to turn off this device to save power. Besides, I turned off hibernation with a restart as suggested. Does someone maybe have a solution for this problem

Mouse won't wake up computer from sleep.

When my computer goes to sleep, power light is blinking on the computer so perhaps it's deep sleep, moving the USB attached mouse does not wake it up.

This used to work, even with 2004 but somewhere with one of their updates it stopped working. I tried a new mouse, same problem. Any suggestions?

Yes, I've done many Google searches and looked at lots of responses but there really is nothing more than the above as far as a suggested fix.

I've uninstalled the mouse from Device Manager then rebooted, no help.

USB attached keyboard works okay and wakes the computer.

When my PC is asleep, pressing a key on the keyboard or pressing a mouse button no longer wakes it - I have to press the power button.

I've already verified in Device Manager that both the mouse and the keyboard have the "Allow this device to wake the computer" box checked. I've also gone into advanced power settings and changed PCI Express -> Link State Power Management to Off.

What else could be causing this?

EDIT: Here is another clue:

Sometimes I allow my PC to go to sleep on its own, i.e. by reaching the timer set in "Power & sleep" settings. In these cases I typically access my computer again after about 3-4 hours by either pressing a key on my keyboard, clicking a mouse button, or accessing a shared network folder from another device. In all of these cases, the computer wakes up from sleep.

Other times I manually put my computer to sleep by clicking start->Power->Sleep. I usually use this option before going to bed and so don't access the computer again for 9 hours or so. This is when I run into the issue described above, i.e. clicking the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard doesn't wake the computer. If I manually put my computer to sleep by clicking start->Power->Sleep, wait for the computer to turn off, then immediately hit a keyboard key or mouse button, the computer wakes up again. So my issue seems to be related to how long the computer has been asleep.

Does the computer enter a different state of sleep in these two cases?
