How do upgrade to Windows 11 on new SSD, how do I use existing Storage Space and also...

I have an 11 year old PC running Windows 10 Pro on a motherboard that does not support TPM 1.2 or 2.0. Therefore, an in-place upgrade is not possible. The CPU is an Intel I7 4790 with an LGA 1150 socket on an Asus motherboard.I am running the OS on an SSD and have a set of disks configured as a single storage space for user files/docs. Working docs are synched to Onedrive.I would like to upgrade to Windows 11 and am planning on buying a new CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card and SSD.My plan was to:1 Remove old hardware,2 Install the new hardware.3 Keep the storage space drives disconne

  2. Unable to use new Storage Space made from existing Storage Pool

I posted about this originally at
    TenForums
, where I also posted screen captures of all my error messages. If asked, I could re-post it all here.

I have an existing Storage Pool with 2 Storage Spaces - 1 simple and 1 mirrored - which I created several years ago using Windows 8.1 Storage Spaces feature. It has survived my upgrade to Win 10, and both existing Storage Spaces function fine.

When I create a new Storage Space, I get an error message "Can't Delete the Storage Space", with details "the Parameter is Incorrect 0x00000057"

The new Storage Space appears in the Storage Space UI (reached via Control Panel), but does not appear in File Explorer. It appears to be found by the Disk Management console (Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management-->Disk Management),
and is listed as 'Online', but clicking through the 'Properties' shows the following events

Device STORAGE\Disk\{41546632-4b54-40e7-9961-15d5ccdb3843} was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

    Last Device Instance Id: USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_&Prod_&Rev_PMAP\070165E12DFCF469&0

Any help as to how to get new Storage Spaces working on my PC?

  3. Windows 11 and Storage Spaces / Tiered Storage

I have Windows 11 Pro (not Workstation or Enterprise) and I would create a Storage Space with the "Manage Storage Spaces" and I add 3 drives into a Simple (non-mirrored/non-parity) volume, 1 NVMe SSD and 2 HDD's, would this automatically make the Storage Space Tiered, e.g. WIll it start creating a "heatmap" of data that is used more often and move this automatically to the faster SSD and leave the unused data on the HDD's or is this not possible?

Did you try going here?: Go to Start > Settings > System > Storage > Advanced storage settings > Storage spaces

Storage Spaces in Windows - Microsoft Support

Is this what you are trying to do?:

Storage Spaces helps protect your data from drive failures and extend storage over time as you add drives to your PC. You can use Storage Spaces to group two or more drives together in a storage pool and then use capacity from that pool to create virtual drives called storage spaces. These storage spaces typically store two copies of your data so if one of your drives fails, you still have an intact copy of your data. If you run low on capacity, just add more drives to the storage pool.

How to create a storage space:

Storage Spaces in Windows - Microsoft Support

I believe these are the old control panel directions:

    1. Add or connect the drives that you want to group together with Storage Spaces.
    2. Go to the taskbar, type Storage Spaces in the search box, and select Storage Spaces from the list of search results.
    3. Select Create a new pool and storage space.
    4. Select the drives you want to add to the new storage space, and then select Create pool.
    5. Give the drive a name and letter, and then choose a layout. Two-way mirror, Three-way mirror, and Parity can help protect the files in the storage space from drive failure.
    6. Enter the maximum size the storage space can reach, and then select Create storage space.
Being that I rely on Microsoft 365, I have never created this type of storage space so someone else may be able to help better.
