I am working on a project and cannot find anything on how docking stations and windows 10 machines related to each other. I have 2 different setups, one in the office and one at home, and both of my setups remember all of the settings and devices attached separately. I was wondering if there were any logs or files somewhere on the machine that store info about the different display settings when connected to different docking stations as well as when they get connected to. Is it the windows device or the docking station it self's responsibility to remember those kinds of things.

    :)

  3. What happened to connect to a wireless display in display settings

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Windows 11 has made some changes to the way you connect to wireless displays compared to Windows 10. The "Connect to a wireless display" feature is now integrated into the new Quick Settings menu, which is accessed from the taskbar. Here's how to use it:

    1. Open Quick Settings:
      • Click on the network icon in the taskbar (usually looks like a Wi-Fi symbol) or press Win + K on your keyboard. This will open the Quick Settings menu.
    2. Click on "Connect to a wireless display."
      • In the Quick Settings menu, you should see an option labeled "Connect to a wireless display." Click on it.
    3. Select a Wireless Display:
      • Windows will start scanning for available wireless displays. When it finds one, click on the name of the display you want to connect to.
    4. Follow On-Screen Instructions:
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection. You may need to confirm the connection on both your computer and the wireless display.
This streamlined approach simplifies the process of connecting to wireless displays in Windows 11. The traditional method of going to Display Settings in Windows 10 is no longer used for this purpose in Windows 11.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

    Best regards

Can't write to shares on a Windows 10 machine from a Windows 7 machine

I still get "You need permission to perform this action" from the Windows 7 machines if I try to write to a Windows 10 share after I made the above changes on the Windows 10 machine.
