How do you edit default program for file type to include "/" option?

Is there a way in 10 to add modifiers or switches to a default program?

For example, I would like a .xlsx Microsoft Excel file to open with C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" /e "%1 (That is, adding " /e "%1 to the command line of the .exe file)

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations lets me change the default program, but not HOW the program opens.
When I click on a file type, a pop up only gives me the option of keeping the existing default, or looking for a different app. But no right-click option or otption to modify how the program opens (as I believe there was in XP & 7).

(Also, is there a better way I could have described the issue in the subject line?)

    Thank you,
    Ed

    :)

  2. can i add the "edit" to the right click on a file type?

i'm doing a lot of web programing and would like to add the "edit" option to ".html" files. i don't want to change the normal double-click open default, but there ISN'T a "edit" option on html files. I have the "edit" command on "js" and "css" files and
its really nice to just right click them and edit. It'd be nice to have that option for the actual html files too, which in essence gives me 2 default programs to easily open the same file type for. I've tried googling and i can't find a way to do this. I
assume this would be through the regedit ?

  3. How to remove a default file association app from a file type in Windows 10

This thread has been going for near 2 years. Microsoft is not reading the stated problem. We need to remove a file type association not modify or add.

How does one fully remove a file association? Not change, not add, remove.

Certainly there is a way. Please provide an answer to nearly 100 people with the same issue and question.

    Thank you.

  4. How do you edit default program for file type to include "/" option?

I would think you should be able to edit the shortcut to the executable with command switches or create a batch file to run using those same switches. Nothing should have changed with this process in Windows 10.

Hadn't thought of redirecting the shortcut to a batch file. Thanks! (But I sure wish there was still a way to do it directly.)

I actually found a way to do what I wanted by changing registry keys, though, so I didn't have to do it for this case.

    Thanks,
    Ed
