    How do you get win10's windows photo viewer to play animated gifs?


    I am aware that the win 10 version of windows photo viewer doesnt support playing animated gifs the way the win 7 photo viewer does.

    But i know that theres a way to get it to do this (no, not by using another program like irfanview or whatever). I just cant remember what the method involves. I definately managed to get it to play animated gifs and i vaugely recall that it involved downloading something that would make photo viewer play back animated gifs, but i cant recall the details. Unfortunately, i lost it when my SSD died and im trying to figure out how to make the windows photo viewer do it.

    Does anyone have any ideas what the method involves?

    Edit : Made a mistake, windows photos can play back animated gifs, it just cant play back a certain one. Not sure why.

    I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.

    How do I get Photo Viewer to come up on clean install of Windows 10?

    Is Photos your current default ?
    Assuming that it is. Please try this, if you have not done so yet...…

    Settings > Apps > left side, select Default apps > right side, locate Photos > click it > Windows Photo Viewer should appear on the popup list > click it.
    If it works, Windows Photo Viewer is now your default, replacing Photos from the Default apps list.

    Replacement for photo viewer

    Win ver 19041.388

    Just do not like this "new" photo viewer, it is just cumbersome to operate, lot of extra steps etc. I like the older Win photo viewer, however since JPG files are saved as "unhandled Extension handler finder", *Confused I need something else. Appreciate any suggestions that is not overly optioned, just a simple viewer. Tx
