Windows 10: How do you play a playlist in shuffle in Windows Media Player?

hi. i have several playlists i want to play the songs in on shuffle. however, in the playlist section i see no "shuffle and play" button. when i view by artist, there is a shuffle and play option: is there any way to shuffle and play a playlist or can i only shuffle and play by artist? thanks.

Win 10: Media Player; Playlist Not Shuffling, or Forwarding, When Cast to Device...

I'm having some trouble with WIN 10 and the Windows Media Player. When playing music files, an album (1) can be selected/created as a play list and each song will play sequentially in the album, forwarding on its own.

However when I create a playlist from a series of albums, and 'shuffle' the songs - the media player will only play the first song; it will then repeat the that song - or the second if you manually forward to next song. It will not move to the next song
on the shuffled playlist...

The shuffle icon is activated - the 'circle' or repeat icon is not.

CAN PLAYLISTS ON WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER LEGACY BE PLAYED IN ORDER I WANT?

You can of course customize the order in which media files are played in Windows Media Player Legacy. Follow these steps to create and adjust the playlist order:

1. Open Windows Media Player Legacy: Click the Start menu, then type "Windows Media Player Legacy" in the search bar, and open it.
   
2. Add media files to playlist: Drag and drop the music or video file you want to add into the player window, or use the "Add to Library" button and select the file.
   
3. Create Playlist: In the playlist pane, select "Create Playlist" and type the name you want.
   
4. Adjust play order: Drag media files into the playlist and sort them in the order you want them to play. You can drag files anywhere in the playlist to adjust the order in which they are played.
   
5. Play your playlist: Double-click the playlist name or right-click the playlist and select "Play" to play the media files in it in the order you adjusted.
   

However, since you are already using Windows11, I recommend using the new version of Media Player, because Windows Media Player Legacy is old and some features may have been replaced by more advanced Media Player.

How Do You Shuffle _Then_ Play in New Windows Media Player?

On Windows 10.0.19041.2965 (22H2) Pro, I have two versions of Windows Media Player: old version (12.0.19041.2965) and new (formerly Groove Music, 11.2304.2.0). One of New Version's flaws (at least on Windows 10) is that, when you start a playlist in shuffle mode, it always starts with the first song on the list, then begins to shuffle. I doubt that anyone who is shuffling a playlist wants it always to start with the same song; I know I don't.

I've read in some online posts that at least some versions of New WMP have a "shuffle then play" button, but mine sure doesn't. Worse, this now seems to have infected Old WMP, which now starts with the first song on the paylist before beginning to shuffle the order. Most annoying.

Does anyone know how to get New WMP to shuffle then play, and/or how to get the old behavior back in Old WMP? Some months ago, when Microsoft began rolling out New WMP to Windows 10 users, I submitted feedback arguing that the program needs a "play then shuffle button," as well as autolevelling, so far to no avail.
