    How do you remove ALL search functionality from Microsoft Edge address bar so it performs...


    Maybe this has been addressed here although numerous searches have turned up nothing. How do I disable ALL search features in the address bar of Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 (newest version)? Why does anybody think this is a feature. I would like to be able to paste a URL in the address bar and a search in the search bar. It is not complicated. What was the motivation to conflate the functionality of these separate and distinct UIs? I hate stuff like this. I am supposed to be building out a Citrix app shortcut on a new VM and I get sidetracked trying to figure out some small detail that ultimately has nothing to do whit what I am trying to do. Sorry for the rant I just see more and more of this silly crap that you have to unwind to get what you really need to do done.

    *Confused Thanks for the suggestions. OK, read these two, spent another round of confusion, and ask: Is this the add-on Edge Chromium your referencing? I have the native Edge that came with windows. Am STUCK on where this setting is if for a different version of the native Edge (vs Chromium). My version of Edge has 'settings/privacy & Security', lost the train from there. *Confused

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps to open actual address of websites with short forms as you wish:

    • Open Microsoft Edge, click on More actions(...) at the right top corner.
    • Click on View advanced settings, under Search in the address bar with
      click on down arrow.
    • Choose <add new>, try to add the default website.
    Secondly, as opening pages in new tab is set by design, I suggest you to provide this as a feedback.
