Can't Open NotePad

Hello robinkushal,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I want to apologize if you encountered this issue. I understand you have a problem with notepad missing.

What is your current Windows version? Press Start then search Settings, select System then About.

Kindly try to reinstall Notepad

Press Start then search Manage optional features

Check if Notepad is on the list, Click Uninstall

Close Settings

Press Start then search Manage optional features

Click Add a feature then select notepad on the list

Put a check then Click Install

Open again Notepad

Press WIN+R to open Run

Type: notepad then hit Enter

Navigate to this location then check notepad on the list

C:\WINDOWS\system32

How to make: Notepad can open its window maximized when each time launched?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to make changes in Windows 10 for the Notepad.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps you.

• Press Start and type Notepad.
• Right click on it and select Open file location.
• Again right click on Notepad and select properties.
• Under Shortcut Tab in the Run select
  Maximized and click apply and Ok.

After performing the above right click and select Pin to Start
menu and check opening from the Start menu and check if it helps.

You may also pin to taskbar and open the notepad from taskbar
and check if the issue persists.

Notepad won't open in Windows 10

I would suggest you to uninstall Notepad and reinstall it.

To uninstall Nopetad follow the steps below:

Press Win+I to open the Settings.

Go to Apps > Apps & Features.

In the right pane, click on ‘Optional Features’

Type Notepad in the search box and click on Uninstall.

If you have uninstalled the Notepad application and now want it back, you can easily reinstall it in a few simple steps.

Open Settings and go to Apps & Features

In the right pane, click on Optional Features.

Click on Add a Feature

Type Notepad in the search bar or scroll down to find it.

Click on Notepad and Install.

Try to launch Notepad and see if it works.
