    How do you retrieve information from USMT format ?


    HelloMy laptop crashed the other day and had to change the hard disk. before that I backed up onto an external drive in the format of USMT .mig files, now I am not sure how to access these files again. I have tried all methods that I found online but nothing seems to really work. The data is in a hard drive and the following is the directoryHow do you retrieve information from USMT format ? :D:>do_not_delete>USMT>migstore>apps>USMT>USMT>MIG >files>USMT>USMT.MIG>settings>USMT>USMT.MIGAny help would be appreciated.Thank you.

    How do you retrieve information from USMT format ?

    My laptop crashed windows and I then installed windows 11 again. So it stored my data into USMT format and I watched videos trying to restore but they all fail. The data is in a hard drive and the following is the directory:

    D:>do_not_delete>USMT>migstore>apps>USMT>USMT>MIG

    >files>USMT>USMT.MIG

    >settings>USMT>USMT.MIG

    I tried the following codes:

    Loadstate /i.migapp.xml /i.miguser.xml /i.migdocs.xml d:\usmtmig /all

    Loadstate /i.migapp.xml /i.miguser.xml /i.migdocs.xml

    Loadstate /i.migapp.xml /i.miguser.xml /i.migdocs.xml d:\umtmig /all /v:13

    Loadstate.exe \migstore /i.migapp.xml /i.miguser.xml /i.migdocs.xml /v:13 /l:scan.log

    and all of them failed. So can I please have the correct code I should use

    Run CMD


    1. diskpart
    2. list disk

    Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

    2. select disk #
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

    with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.
