Windows 10: "How do you want to open this file?" window keeps poping up

This is an issue that affects mainly PDF files, although it occasionally appears with other file formats as well. It started some time ago with an update and is really irritating. Let's take it from the beginning: This is a Windows 10 system, with all the updates. Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed and is the default pdf viewer. Whenever I try to open a pdf file from the desktop or the explorer, the "How do you want to open this file?" window pops up. Now, Acrobat reader is the selected app for opening pdf files. This is true both when I look at the file associations in settings choose default

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?

 

files are not poping up

Hi,

when ever I try to click on the icon on my desktop, it is not poping up. But when I place my cursor on the task bar I can see that thing is open. and then if I want to pop that up on desktop, it is still not coming. but the taskbar is showing that the file
explorer is open. I can see the icons on the desktop.

another problem is if I keep some app like a game open or minimize it and leave the desktop for a while, when I come back. I always find there is no icons on desktop and from the taskbar the game is not poping up too. Then if I try to open the taskbox by
using ctrl alt del, nothing comes up. how to get it fixed?
