Windows 10: How does anyone properly back up the laptop without external storage?

Windows 10 never allows the user to create a backup image or file history backup on the same drive that has Windows installed.

Makes sense, but that just checkmates a user like me who has a laptop that doesn't support external storage.

I can't make a partition because it has licensed Windows and other important stuff preinstalled by the manufacturer. Wiping off all these just to make a partition for backup would be the worst move.

I have a network location option but it seems like you need your personal NAS or other 3rd party's software like Webdrive to use it as a network location. I have Onedrive and Google Drive (unlimited storage) but they are useless. As I said, some commercial platform like Webdrive makes it possible to use Google Drive as a network location so I guess there must be some way around to pull this off but I just can't google any more info.



This MUST be a serious issue for anyone with a laptop without proper external storage. Someone must have gone through this before me. I just got a new laptop and I really wanna backup from the beginning. What should I do?

windows 10 laptop and usb external storage

I have a windows 10 laptop model 14BS153OD, and when i plug in an external USB storage flash-drive it shows up on the right hand window of the "this PC" folder just fine, and it can be used as normal, BUT it shows up twice {listed one on top of the other,
like this :

on the left hand side of the "this PC" window. When I click on it it shows a list of what is on the drive on BOTH listings.

I was wondering why, and does it mean anything is wrong, or will the info stored on the flash-drive be compromised??

 

Hardwire Laptop to External Storage

I connected my laptop via ethernet cable to my terabyte external storage, but my laptop doesn't seem to recognize the drive using Exploring...? Any ideas on how to connect (to ack-up my laptop? Thank You!

 

Laptop suddenly stopped recognizing the external monitor

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.
