How does Windows 11 treat secondary Raid 0 Drives? Especially when set in BIOS?

Hello all.I have a computer with Two NVME drives non raid, with windows 10 installed on one of them. I suspect I will have no issues there in upgrading to windows 11, but I also have three drives in Raid 0. They are set in BIOS though and not windows, but at the install of the computer I updated windows once and they disappeared. After that I have been really careful in updating windows. So when looking around on Windows 11 and raid devices, some people seem to be having issues. But mostly because they are installing windows 11 ON raid devices. So I was wondering if I were to upgrade to windo

    :)

    Raid 0 on secondary

Yes, you should have 1TB from the RAID-0 of your 1TB and 500GB secondary drives. This is because they are mismatched but it has to do with the size of the smallest drive in the array not the largest. RAID-0 total capacity = (number of drives) x (size of smallest drive). For example, if you added a 2TB drive to that array the total size would be 1.5TB because there would be three drives and the smallest one is 500GB.

To make one large drive from a bunch of mismatched drives the mode you're looking for is usually called JBOD or Spanned Volume in Windows. You wouldn't have the performance gain of RAID-0 but the total capacity will equal the sum of all drives included.

    Raid 0 on secondary

I get over 1000 read and write on my raid 0 primary drive (two Samsung 850 EVO) and I love it sooo much. What I didn't know is, when you put two drives into Raid 0 and they are different sizes, they will take the larger of the 2 rather then add them both up. Wish I knew that before I put my secondary drive(s) in Raid. Now one of the drives is not showing in Windows.

    Raid 0 on secondary

iv been using windows raid 0 on my secondary storage drives for ages, its awesome and to make it better the drives will go into and work on any windows installation at least from 7-8-8.1-10 anyway so you can move drives between machines / installs /diff hardware without an issue
