Windows 10: How does windows activation server return decommissioned volume key quantity?

Is there an intuitive way system administrators or help desk persons can let the activation server know volume license have not exceeded the actual number of computers with OS installed? The system seems rigged never tracking total volume license key as new machines replace old ones with same OS level. The activation server is returning incorrect error "Acquisition of End User License failed. hr=0xC004C020" volume license key has been exceeded when indeed it has not. Or correctly track Windows 10 upgrades where 7 has not been fully removed. How exactly does a non

how to install Azure AD connect on a new server and decommission the old version on existing server.

I am unable to upgrade the Azure AD Connect from Ver. 1.6.16.0 to the latest version due to an unsupported server (i.e., Windows server 2012 standard).

I am planning to install the higher version of AD connect on another server (Windows server 2016) and decommission the old one. Could you please help to provide the steps for smooth migration please?

Your copy of Windows has a Volume License. This type of license is available to organizations that buy Windows licenses in large quantities. The only way that you can maintain your activation is to connect to the organization's activation server.

There are two editions of Windows 10 that are available to individual users: Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional.

It's quite unusual for an organization with a volume license to charge members of the organization for using that type of license.

 

Win 10 activation is expiring - volume license

Finally got it activated but still confused as to what is really going on with activation.

here is what I did:

-got another Win7 Pro key from a friend (non volume license one)
-I tried to activate it, but it gave the same error message as before, "could not activate with this key"
-following suggestion above, I tried it a second time. This time it activated !!! (internet was connected both times)

don't know why just doing it 2 times makes it work. maybe someone else can explain that.

I checked it with ShowkeyPlus and to my surprise it now said it was activated and showed the installed key as the generic Win10Pro key that is listed in above post. But I did not enter that key. ????
