    How does windows track version upgrades


    I got the surface pro 7 recently. The main purpose was for work, come to find out that Microsoft has taken a page out of the apple book of if we can charge a customer lets do it. To sign with profile that is my work 365 I have to have windows 10 pro. When I do the upgrade is my pc registered as having pro with Microsoft or do I need to provide a key for the upgrade.

    It was recommended to set the first account up with the 365 that way my work has can track it and all that which is fine. To do that I need windows pro that why I want to make sure that the device is registered with Microsoft as having pro not my actual Microsoft account.

    could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

    Anyone can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99.

    There are two upgrades for Windows8. The $40 offer which DOES not require a key for prior version of Windows and then there is the $14.99 version for recently new purchasers of a Win7 box WHICH requires in step 2 to enter your Windows7 key.

    Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

    My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

    • Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
    • Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
    • Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.

    I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

    Suggestions for next steps?
