how enable regedit.exe to be able to make changes [ changes I make have not been saved...

regedit.exe was ran as admin then as I am used on previous versions of Windows I edited some registries , closed the Registry Editor and rebooted the system. After the boot reopened the registries I was working on and it was like nothing had been done. Changes were not saved. Then I have checked on Local Group Policy editor : User configuration > Admnistrative templates > System > Prevent access to registry editing tools It was set by default "Not Configured" , the I tried to check "Disable" without any result as well. I have no idea what is preventing changes to be saved. Any

Recent (Save Files) - Change Default Settings to OneDrive

    Hello -
Thanks for the return. Before I undertake changing the Registry, I have a question.
The steps in my Registry, for my version of Windows 10, were a bit different, but I think I eventually got to the right spot.
The last step is to change the number of places you want to list in Recent Places. In my case, the default Max Display listed 50 as the number. So, if I were to change that number, how do I know the Save As page will be one of those places? Or, a similar question, will this registry change delete the tab Recent from my Save As page? This is what I would like to happen.
When I received my computer in Nov. 2016, the Recent tab was not listed in the Save As page. Something caused it to be added over time. Which brings me to this second question. Would there be any benefit in deleting the changed registry listing and reverting back to the default listing? See attachment.

  3. .exe files and regedit not opening

So, I was trying to open a program and it said that .exe file not working. So, I searched the internet and it said that if I change the directory of .exe from regedit to "%1" %* but I wrote it as "%1"%*.

After I closed regedit after doing this then all my .exe files stopped working. It said that windows can't open this file.

I then knew that i did something wrong and should perhaps change it to the way it was. I tried opening regedit through various ways but it just doesn't open.

    Help please!!! Thanks in advance...

    exe files and regedit

I can't access any of my exe files or regedit. Every time I double click on a program, Windows 10 tells me to find an app to open it. When regedit came up the first time, I looked up the steps to getting my exe files to be recognized by Windows 10 and
that didn't work. Now, I can't get regedit to work! i am so frustrated. Could somebody help me and tell me what is going on here please?
