    How long for feature update to Windows 10 version 1709 install


    Does anyone know how long it should take for the feature update of Windows 10 version 1709 to prepare to install on a PC?

    My own installation, courtesy of Windows Update, has taken about 90 minutes and is only 30% prepared to install.

    Can anyone advise?

    Windows 10 update took 5.5hrs and now I can't do anything with my computer.

    Only feature updates such as the latest version of Windows 10 - 1709 could take that long.

    Feature Updates are new versions of Windows 10, so they will take some time to download and install.

    Hey guys,

    I installed windows 10 update 1709 yesterday but the "feature update" to windows 10, version 1709 failed to install.

    Any tips on how to fix this?

    Hi Mr. Morgan. Some have reported hours on i5 processor and others have reported one hour.

    Just running an update on Windows 10 (1709), it's taken about 1 hour (download and install).

    Does anyone know if the installation of version 1709 can be terminated at all? and id it possible to prevent re-installation in the future?

    How long for feature update to Windows 10 version 1709 install

    I would not terminate it or attempt to terminate it unless I had my data backed up, bootable media on hand or an Image created with a tool like Macrium Reflect.

    I think mine will take about twice that, simply to 'prepare to install'. Who knows how long installation will take?

    With multiple millions of people updating at the same time that is to be expected I guess. After an hour my old machine is barely half way.

    I'm glad my Linux boxes are so so much faster at updating.

    The preparing to install took between 5 - 6 hours but it is now time to reboot.

    Wow, your right. I started around 8pm and here it is 10:44pm and my machine is at 72% preparing to install still. It would be much faster just installing this fresh from an ISO burnt to a USB drive, lol.
