How long to check for updates? upgrading from win7 64bit

Switched over to a 120gb ssd today on my gateway NV53 and did a fresh install of windows 7 (downloaded ISO and installed from usb). I decided to update to win10 from the microsoft website. It downloaded and installed well, but now it's been stuck on the "check for updates" step for over 2 hours with no progress indicator.

    :)

  2. How long does windows 7 have to be installed for the windows 10 upgrade to become available?

    Hello!

I've seen all the good stuff that is Windows 10, and I plan to upgrade. Since this is free on devices running windows 7 or 8.1, I thought maybe I could buy win7 for the device and go on to upgrade, instead of buying win10 straight away.

Is there a limitation, say, you have to have win7 installed for at least a year before you get the free upgrade? Or you just install it, update to the latest version and you can already reserve it?

    Thanks in advance

How long to check for updates? upgrading from win7 64bit

The problem is that the version of Windows 7 may be several years old with Service Pack1. It is not uncommon to pick up around 200+ updates depending on the products installed in Windows 7. For example, if you installed Office 2010, Office 2013 or office 2016, it may pick up a few more fixes.

If I have a fully updated Windows 7, it will still take anyway from 15 to 30 minutes to check for updates depending on your system configuration and CPU. However, 2 hours is little too long.

Just be patient, it will finish anytime now! Cheer!
