Windows 10: How long will 1511 receive security updates?

As in the tittle - Anyone know how long 1511 will continue to receive security updates?

I've only had the 1607 update show up on 1 PC so far through WU & I think I've successfully hidden it for now with wushowhide... I don't have time to fix things right now if the update breaks stuff so I'll delay for awhile unless 1511 won't continue to be supported

Instead of Rollback to Win10 1703 it Rolled back to Windows 10 Version 1511

OS Build 10.0.10586.1176

updates."

Security Updates for 1607 Windows

Hello

There was recent news about how windows 1507 and 1511 will be end of service meaning it will no longer receive security updates from microsoft.

However, for 1607 the service is still supposed to continue until 2023 and still not end of service yet. So does this means it will still continue to get security updates until then?

 

Hopefully we can keep it until MS fix the missing drive/RAW format bug!

 

Well, you should be safe for some time yet. They're still issuing update for the original version. It went up to build 10240.17071 on 9th August 2016. See the update history here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...update-history

is there any advantage of sticking to the old build? i recently re-formatted and installed 1607 ISO, its running great. i feel like these days once a new version of an OS comes out like Android or Windows the old one gets abandoned and shelved. i already deleted all my original windows 10 ISO's

 

Don't think so... I'm running 1511 at work and 1607 at home... on very different notebooks - no problems with either (after clean installing 1607 - had a hiccup with the upgrade on home machine)

Also I note the latest 1511 update is a whopping 1GB! (So lots of fixes in that one...)

 

- so could be updates since then too..
