    How make the CD not auto-play in a software when it's connected?


    When I connected my external CD drive to my laptop, it gave me an option to choose play the CD on a certain music software whenever a CD is detected in drive.

    However I want to cancel this setting but don't know how. I don't want it to play automatically.

    WINDOWS 10 - Auto Play and burnt CD's

    Hi Philip,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you are trying to auto play the CD/DVD burnt form the Nero and its not working as an auto play. We will help you.

    • Which version of NERO are you using?
    As you have mentioned that normally the CD/DVD which you bought gives you an auto play option but the CD/DVD burnt from NERO is not auto playing but plays manually when selected Windows media player.

    I suggest you to Uninstall and reinstall the latest version of NERO software
    and check if it helps.

    If still the issue persists contact the NERO Support
    and check if it helps as there is no issues in Windows AutoPlay.

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps to turn on auto play for DVD and check if it helps.

    • Press “Windows+X”.
    • Go to “Control panel”.
    • Click on “auto play”.
    • Under the tab “choose what happens when you insert each type of media or device” check the box “Use auto play for all media and devices”.
    • Then under the option DVD you can select the appropriate option and check if it helps.
