Windows 10: How people do not understand Windows 10 licencing

On another site, a guy asked to find his product key on pc that came with Windows 10 preinstalled, as he wants to reinstall as hdd is dying. Here were the answers.

1) Look on sytem info page on control panel

2) It is on sticker on base of pc

3) Login with MS account and it will activate automatically (implying you need key if using local account).

Of the above 3 is partly correct but for totally wrong reason i.e.the 10 key is bios embedded and/or there will be a digital licence.

Amazing how windows 10 activation is so little understood!

my licence is now called drive europe.

I see other people have noticed their licences changed to Europe, but how do you get a USA licence for navigation? I've uploaded USA maps. Some people say you need to use the 'Services' tap in MapLoader, but I do not have that tab.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

i buy a laptop with windows 8.1 after it upgrade to windows10

upgrade to windows 10. some days it work very nice. after i getting CRITICAL ERROR.

1. will try all possibilities to resolve the problem. i am fail

2. after contact the microsoft support people through online but they are does n't resolve my critical error.

finally i decide to format the laptop and reinstall windows 10. if i loose my licence windows10 . ?? so please help how to get my licence product key.??? how to do?

Yes I know it's for volume licensing but:::

 

At one point 1 and 2 were correct, just not for Windows 10.
In Windows NT 4 and earlier you could get the actual product code on the system info page. It was listed right above the PID =. I don't remember exactly when Microsoft stopped doing it though, XP maybe?
And up until OEM Embedded keys you could just get a key off of the sticker.
All PC's didn't get a DL at first either. I had a couple of PC's that showed as Activated with a Product Code. I was running the Education version installed with an MSDN key. If I clean installed, on the same PC I had to enter a key to activate. They then toggled to Activated with a DL after an upgrade to a new build. I should know but can't remember what build did it. Anniversary update I think? Then latter on after that they added the and linked to your Microsoft ID. It's no wonder its confusing as the rules keep changing.
