Windows 10: How to access BIOS when keyboard wont respond and the MOBO is pre-UEFI

Long story short. friends PC isn't loading up certain drivers following the replacement of a bad GFX card that was causing his PC to power cycle at random. there are no network adapters showing up in the network adapter menu even though device manager shows them which results in no internet connection at all and i can't get to the BIOS to fix it because:

1. the keyboard and mouse aren't responding during POST or the initial "select keyboard layout" when i start up recovery mode. there are no PS/2 ports i can use, only USB 2.0 ports. I have tried a different keyboard with the same results. the keyboard works fine at login/desktop.

2. the motherboard is an older pre-UEFI model so that option does not appear when i boot to the recovery menu from the desktop (oddly enough, the keyboard and mouse work in that specific instance until i say, select startup repair which puts me back at "select keyboard layout" after a reboot with a non responsive keyboard).

motherboard replacement is not possible at the moment so does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

Bios access in Windows 10 without UEFI capabilities

The subject is pretty much the question.

How do I access the bios using Win10 without having a motherboard that supports UEFI?

Things I have tried includes: turning off fast start, pushing the correct key at restart from the troubleshooting menus, attempting to install UEFI, disconnecting the hdd, flashing the cmos, flashing the bios, pulling out a hdd with XP on it (wont even load),

What I found the most telling and interesting is that I couldn't get XP to boot at all. Makes me wonder about the modifications that Win10 does to the bios and such.

So pretty much I have tried everything I can think of and what I can find on various blogs etc.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

 

UEFI and BIOS problem

After going though the steps of to access my Uefi/ Bios menu (go to advanced options, click recovery, restart, advanced options yadadada) my bios menu changed. I cannot for the life of me figure out how i can access my onboard chipset. I just want to
enable my onboard graphics card. Any help would be appreciated.

Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

I would suggest you to use the On Screen Keyboard by click on Ease of access login to the computer and then follow the below methods.



Uninstall keyboard driver and install the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.

• Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Keyboard.
• Right on the Keyboard driver and click on Uninstall.
• Install the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.
