Windows 10: How to access Microsoft account when it is locked and recovery is not working.

HiI have entered my password too many times incorrectly. Normally when this happens I would use the mobile number verification method. However when I use this now I get the following message 'Try another verification method That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method.' When I do try another method it says 'Unfortunately, we have determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership'. I can't remember the subjects from recent emails I have sent which I believe is the reason stopping me gaining access to my accou

I understand that you have upgraded to Windows again after performing reset.

Have you tried to restart the system again to check whether the Windows 10 is downgraded to previous version?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1:

As the Windows 10 creates the new user account automatically, I suggest you to run the Microsoft account troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Step 2:

As you have linked your Microsoft account in Windows 10, I suggest you to switch back to the local account if you wish.

How to switch to a local account from Microsoft account.

  Press “Windows + I” keys to open settings (When you get the error “Critical error-start menu and Cortana not working”).
  
• 
  Select Accounts.
  
• 
  On the right side, it will show your current account with an option "Switch to a local account”.
  
• 
  Select “switch to a local account” and follow the steps to switch your Microsoft account into a local account. Once this is done your Microsoft account is safe and not linked with that computer anymore.
  

Note:

• 
  You may not delete the recovery drive, as it will help you to recover the Windows in future if the Windows is not working properly.
  
• 
  If you are using Microsoft account to login to Windows 10, there is no option to disable the password and sign in to Windows 10 directly without entering password. If you are using Local account to login to Windows 10, you can
  disable the password and sign in to Windows 10 directly without entering password.

Judging by the steps you have taken it seems you have tried to get a code from the alternative email for you to get the reset password link/code for recovering the account. Did you check by any chance if you have type the correct email address?

Also, since you are logged into the Microsoft edge on your phone, please note that you will also still require a password for checking the password in the password manager.

To view saved passwords in Microsoft Edge on your Android phone, follow these steps:

1. Open the Edge browser.
   
2. Click the three-dot icon (⋯) in the upper-right corner.
   
3. Select Settings.
   
4. Navigate to the Profiles section.
   
5. Click Passwords.
   
6. Scroll down to see the list of saved entries.
   
7. Click on an entry to view the stored data.
   

Reset password:

1. Go to the Microsoft account recovery page: https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx

2. Enter your email address and click on "Next".

3. Select the option "I don't have any of these" if you are asked to verify your identity using your phone number.

4. Follow the prompts to verify your identity using other methods such as your alternate email address or security questions.

5. Once you have verified your identity, you will be able to reset your password and regain access to your account.

1. What error message are you getting?
   
2. When was the last time you were able to logged into the account?
   
3. Do you have any other security methods added in your account? Such as phone number or other email address?
