How to achieve "elevation" to administrator in Windows 11 home edition

I just bought a new Windows 11 PC, home edition. I've opened a CMD prompt and typed:wsl --installin order to install Windows Subsystem for Linux, but got the message "The requested operation requires elevation". I'm not a Windows guy, so how do I get elevated? There is no administrator but me. Thanksps. I bought the PC specifically to run WSL

    :)

  2. Never prompted to elevate privilege as administrator

OK, I tried Dinesh's tutorial. First, here's a list of accounts for my machine:

I held down Shift and rebooted, and got the WinRE splash screen. I was prompted to log in, with "Dan" my only option:

If I clicked on "Don't see your account", I got this:

Is it suggesting that "Dan" is an administrator account? Oh, that it were so... I went back, selected the "Dan" account, and it booted into command prompt. I then attempted the first of Dinesh's instructions:

Sea of Thieves on Windows 10: can't unlock achievements

    Hi PieBaracus14,

Normally, achievements will be unlocked once you complete a certain task, mission or challenge on the game. If you recently installed the game on your computer, I suggest that you uninstall the game first, and then reset the Windows Store cache by performing
    the following steps:

    • Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.
    • Click on Command prompt (Admin).
    • Type wsreset.exe, and then hit Enter.
    • Reinstall the game in question.
    • Once done, attempt to unlock the achievement again.

If the achievements still don't unlock, I suggest that you raise this to our
    Achievements Support
team by taking the survey on this
    link
. They will help us to double check your account and validate if you completed the requirements to unlock an achievement on the game.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

How to achieve "elevation" to administrator in Windows 11 home edition

Enabling hidden elevated administrator account fails

    Hi Rob,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community. I understand that you have an issue with enabling hidden elevated administrator account.
I will surely help you to fix this issue.

To understand the issue better, let me know if you have any other administrator User Account?

If you have other administrator user account, you may login to that user account and try to
enable built-in administrator account. If there are no other administrator user accounts, you may enable built-in administrator account from WinRE and check if it helps. To enable built-in
    administrator account follow these steps:

    • Insert the Windows 10 Installation Disc.

    • Click on Repair your System.

    • Click on Advanced Startup Options.

    • Click on Command Prompt.

    • Type: net user administrator /active: yes
Note: Please follow the same steps and type
net user administrator /active: no to disable admin account after the troubleshooting is done.

Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of the issue so that we can assist you further.
