Hi,this post is one of the top answers for solving the problem with NVMe disks not being recognized by the installer.the steps described indeed work, but there is a catch: this deletes everything off the disk, while the question concerns installation of a dual boot system.There is no appropriate reporting mechanism, as this post does not violate forum rules, nor is it even in bad faith, and the advice given is clearly useful to the majority of users, but for a group that reaches this specifically because they were looking for advice about installing dual boot systems, this will cause data loss

Does MBR2GPT cause data loss?

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

mbr2hpt is not meant to cause data loss, Microsoft indicate it can convert the drive to GPT without any data loss.

However, there are some people on the forums have reported the conversion process went wrong and they lost access to the drive.

So, if you are going to convert your drive, you must be sure you have a backup of all your personal files.

@acer3, Our real data recovery expert here is @jumanji. More than likely by doing clean, followed by converting gpt to mbr you have lost all of your data. @jumanji would know the real answer to that question. I recommend ignoring other posters. I only know basics of data recovery, that's why I won't pretend to be an expert and suggest what you do, other than stop doing anything with your BIOS and that disk until a real expert can give you advice. Here's a little hint. Look at the badges that are under user names to the left of every post. That will give you some idea as to whose advice is likely good, and whose advice you should examine very carefully.
