Windows 10: How to Activate windows 10

I had a licensed copy of Windows 7 I still do which was upgraded by Microsoft to Windows 10 for free. I have a Mac and was running windows under Parallels. I have upgraded my Mac a couple of times with no issues. Recently, a few months ago I changed from Parallels to VMWare Fusion. VMWare transferred everything from Parallels with no issue. Now I constantly get a message on my Windows screen to Activate Windows. I have tried following Settings prompts to do this but just keeps running me around in circles. I could live with this as long as no issues develop down the road. Is it ok to ke

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
