Windows 10: how to activate windows 10

I have windows 10 on my pc lenovo laptop I can not activate my windows. I also want to update my windows but I can not do this too. Whenever I tried to update my windows it stucks or after 100 percent completion it starts from zero.So my problem is, I neither activate my windows nor update it.Please help me.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
