Windows 10: How to activate windows on a new PC and deactivate it on the old one

Hi. I've just bought a new PC. I kinda deactivated my windows on my old PC by going to the command prompt and typing in the command. Once I was installing windows on the new PC it seemed like the code worked everything was fine. But a few hours later I started seeing the "Activate windows" message in bottom right, so I went to settings and I get an error "We can't activate Windows on this device because the product key was already used on another device. If you think it wasn't used on another device, select Troubleshoot below. Error code: 0xC004C008

I have window 10 home installed and Windows Pro activated on my old PC. Now I have an new PC with Windows 10 home activated. How can I deactivate Windows Pro on old PC and reactivate on my new PC.

 

Deactivate Windows and installing it (again) on same PC in dual boot

Hi,

I would like to know if I could :

• Deactivate my Windows 7 licence
• Install it on a dual boot on the same PC
• Be able to use the two (the first into reduced functional mode)

I want to do that to have a fresh install on a new SSD, while being able to use the old installation if needed (rarely, so the reduced functionnality isn't a problem).

Also, can I still activate Windows 10 with a windows 7 key ?

 

Deactivating old PC /reactivating on Parallels on Mac

I attempted to deactivate my old PC and did so successfully. Advice from a internet search recommended that I run slmgr.vbs -upk
on the admin command prompt. This appears to have worked successfully. When I checked the old PC under activate, it indicated a deactivated windows 10. I now migrated my WIN 10 to my Mac Parallels the same copy of the my old Windows 7,8, now version
10 using the same original key. Now this was a genuine copy of Windows 7 when I first purchased it. Now that I got this copy running successfully, I get a message on my windows 10 copy that it needs to be activated. My copy of windows 10 now shows the
last group of key characters to be the same as the original. I'm now attempting the re-enter the same key on the new system and it says that it's no longer genuine. I went to the Microsoft Store to continue the activation process and it sits with a message
indicating that it will make my copy of Windows genuine shortly. It sits in this mode forever and never gets anywhere. If it means purchasing a new, I'm ok with that. I just don't know where to go next. I'm stuck in limbo now. Will my copy of windows eventually
stop working? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
